Happy Holidays!

The holidays are a great time to slow down, take care of yourself, and spend time with those that mean the most to you. No matter what holiday you celebrate, we hope that you have been enjoying them! With the New Year coming up shortly, this is a great time to start reflecting on the year that you have had; both the good times and the bad.

Next week in preparation for our vision board event (learn more here!), we will be posting more content about goal setting. Before you can set any goals, however, you must take the time to reflect and look deeper into yourself in order to discover what you want to achieve in the start of the new year. Whether you have deemed 2024 as a good year or a bad year, try to reflect on all of the little things that have made you into the person who is reading this post right now.

Gratitude

My favorite part about the holidays is being surrounded by my loved ones. There is something special about the end of the year that brings a positive energy to all. This positive energy helps me reflect on my year and all of the things that I am grateful for. Over the past year I have been working on implementing gratitude into my daily life. It is not always easy, especially when I am having a bad day, but training your mind to be grateful for the positive things in life amongst the negative will help you to overcome any obstacles that you may face.

I personally faced many challenges this year, and without gratitude for the things that I do have, I would not have gotten through it. As the saying goes, you can’t control the things that happen to you, but you can control how you react to them. Tapping into a daily gratitude practice will help you take control of your reactions to negative situations. I highly recommend taking this time at the end of the year to start learning how to reflect with gratitude. The holidays are a great time to do this. Whether you are surrounded by friends and family, or celebrating alone, take the time to list 3 small things you are grateful for. I can almost guarantee that your heart will feel warmer thinking about the things you are grateful for.

Life’s Lessons

We are always learning. Whether we realize it in the moment or it hits us like a truck in the future, life is always trying to teach us a lesson. It can be hard to come to terms with the fact that we are always learning (why can’t we just have fun?!). However, in order to grow into the person that we are meant to be, we have to figure out who that person even is.

The end of the year is a great time to reflect on the past few months to identify the lessons you learned or the lessons you are in the process of learning. Sometimes life feels like an escape room. We are often given the tools that we need to escape (become a better version of ourselves), but many of the tools are hidden in coded messages (life’s challenges). If we don’t take the time to reflect on our lives, we can miss the big picture.

The Big Picture

It is easy to do a face mask or get your nails done and call it “self-care”. These are forms of self-care that I also love to do too, however, there is a deeper rooted introspective self-care that is often overlooked and replaced by these physical tasks. I am talking about the difficult self-care. The kind where you have to take the time to look into yourself and do the deep work. This form of self-care can be hard, but it will give you the most bang for your buck! If you truly want to become a better version of yourself in the new year, this is the kind of self-care that you need to do!

The end of the year is a great time to do this because it signifies a new start. 2025 can be your year, you just have to take the time to commit to yourself and do the difficult work! Reflecting on the lessons you’ve learned and implementing gratitude towards those lessons will help you start your real self-care journey that can redefine who you are.
