A Day of Love…

Over time Valentine’s Day has become somewhat of a controversial holiday and one that many people dread in the month of February. It is especially common nowadays to feel extremely stressed or sad around this time of year. Whether you are feeling extra single or panicking about what to gift a loved one on Vday, the transformation of this holiday over the years has caused us to overlook its true meaning. In life, perspective is everything and the way you perceive Valentine’s Day is completely up to you. However, if you have been feeling particularly anxious about the upcoming holiday this year and are looking to change that, this blog is for you!

A New Perspective

At its core, Valentine’s day is a day dedicated to love. The actual purpose for many of the holidays celebrated in our society is to spend time with our loved ones, remind ourselves of the happiness that surrounds us in our lives and intentionally take the time to care for ourselves and those around us. If you go into Valentine’s Day this year with new intentions, particularly ones that give you joy, you will gain a new perspective. Take this mentality with you not only when celebrating this holiday, but for anything you do in life!

Change Your Mindset

The only person that has the power to change your mindset is you. If you set your mind to the fact that you dislike Valentine’s Day, you will in fact find yourself in a bad mood on Valentine’s Day. However, if you simply redirect all of this negative energy into positive energy by loving and taking care of yourself during this holiday, you will find yourself much happier around this time of year.

One of the special things about Valentine’s Day is that you can be your own Valentine. It’s not just about celebrating your significant other anymore, but celebrating everyone that you love, including yourself. Instead of putting pressure on yourself to buy the perfect gift or have a boyfriend/girlfriend by February 14th, take this time to truly focus on loving yourself and putting your happiness first.

It is always helpful to have a set plan for this day, too. Whether that means cooking yourself a delicious meal and watching your favorite movie, or getting the girls together for a Galentine’s Night, plan something that keeps your mind occupied. If you would like to join us for our Virtual Galentine’s Paint Night Event you can RSVP here!
